The Challenge: Outdated and Overbaked
Cakes by Rachel's previous website, built on WordPress, was showing its age. The site struggled with outdated plugins that not only slowed performance but also led to broken functionality. The cost of maintaining these plugins had ballooned over time, surpassing the price of a modern subscription service.
Additionally, the hosting fees were disproportionately high for a website that no longer met the business's needs. The outdated design and limited functionality didn't reflect Rachel's artistry or the premium quality of her cakes. It was clear that the website needed more than just a refresh—it needed a complete transformation.
The Solution: A Sweet New Slice Online
To address these challenges, I collaborated closely with Rachel to build a brand-new website in Webflow, designed and prototyped in Figma. The new site features:
Enhanced Visuals: Added image galleries showcasing wedding cakes, groom’s cakes, and celebratory cakes, allowing her creations to take center stage.
Updated Content: Revamped menu and process information, along with fresh details about the team and a dedicated team gallery.
Improved Features: A new publications and magazines page highlighting media recognition, and an updated testimonials and praise section.
Streamlined Management: Worked side by side with Rachel and her team to teach how to manage and edit content, ensuring they feel confident in maintaining their digital presence.
